This was a project that did for a Dutch self-employed welding company called Van Wissen onderhoud. He made his old logo in Microsoft paint in 2014. Since he is my father, he wanted me to make a new one for him. He wanted me to keep his old elements in it which was the welding mask. He is also someone who thinks outside of the box and decided to use that idea somewhere in the logo. He is also a pretty straightforward kind of guy, he will let u know what he thinks, nothing needs to be complicated with him.

I started by searching for what his competition looked like. I found a lot of shiny metals in the logo's that I found but didn't feel to match with the brands' identity, since I didn't want to give it too much detail because of what he represents as a person (since he is the face of his own company). I started to look more at examples of welding masks online and found some good ones to take inspiration from. 

After this, I went to mind mapping the things my fathers' company stands for. I already noted that it needed to be simple and outside of the box. You can also trust him with what he does, he has an eye for precision.

After some sketching I showed him some examples of logos I came up with. he picked the one that he found the best fitting with his brand personality. I went on in illustrator realising it and making mockups.
